WCAG 2.1 Article 2.4.2

Hey everybody. Josh with Online ADA here.

In this video we’re gonna cover 2.4.2, page titled, which is a level A requirement.

Let’s jump right into the description.

Web pages have titles that describe topic or purpose.

It’s real short. The only requirement that this article is covering is that, in the head section of your HTML content, you have a title element that has the descriptive topic or purpose of the web page in it.

So, most frequently you’ll see the title of the web page being something like the name of your organization. If you’re a credit union or, you know, some fan site or hobby site or something. Just having the title of your company in there is usually sufficient, but if it’s something else, then you just wanna make sure that the topic that’s within that title element is descriptive and explains what the purpose of this website is so the user can quickly orient themselves when they come to your site. They sort of have a frame of reference for where they are.

There’s not a whole lot more to it. That’s really all there is. Thanks for joining me in this video and we’ll see you in the next one.
