Hello everyone. Josh with Online ADA here and in this video we’re covering article 1.4.4, Resized Text This is a level AA requirement. Let’s jump into the description.
Except for captions and images of text, text can be resized without assistive technology up to 200%, without loss of content or functionality.
This one is short and sweet. It’s very clear to the point. Users need to be able to zoom in on the page and increase the size of font up to 200 percent without losing functionality or meaning on the page. It’s a one. You just have to ensure as a web author that when your content is resized and made bigger that you’re not losing any content off the page, or things aren’t overlapping with each other.
It’s just one of those things that you need to test for when you’re designing your website. On my browser, which is Google Chrome, I can hold control and scroll up on a mouse, but there’s also some built in zooming functionality on, I think, every browser. Don’t quote me on that. But, you know, folks are gonna have different software, different programs, magnifiers on their mouse and things like that. That’s not really what this is referring to. This is specific to being able to resize the text without the use of assistive technology.
So, with that in mind, just make sure that your text can become enlarged up to 200 percent. And if you’re content isn’t overlapping and you have nothing flowing off the page you’re not hiding buttons or anything like that, then, you are meeting requirements.
Thanks for joining me. See you in the next video.
